What do you charge?

What do you charge if a client comes back after being MIA for 8 weeks? I had a client come back today. I was going to charge her at least $100 for 2 3 week fills at $50 each. Well she actually still had lashes on. She claimed they just fell out last week and then she argued that when she comes in every two weeks that she doesn't think I do anything. Well I do...as you all know. I just don't have to totally re-do her lashes. You add where she needs it and as the old ones fall out she still has all the new ones. I ended up only charging her $50 (I am too nice) and I didn't bother removing the lashes that were old and starting to go wonky. It took me an hour and a half for her fill (grrrrr) I practically had to do a new set.

do you all have any standards. I am making new rules and going to hand them to each client and have them initial one that I will keep. If my clients don't come in but every 8 weeks I won't have a business! I really haven't had this happen before. She wanted me to just evaluate how many lashes she has. I don't want to do the counting/charging thing. I don't have the patients for that! My prices are cheap 2 weeks/$20 and 3 weeks/$50 I think I am going to say after 5 weeks $100 since I don't see many of my clients being able to go over that 5 without losing over 50% of their lashes.

What do you all think????

Hi,

I do $50 for every 2-3 weeks ONLY if half on each eye is not missing and IF they do their part. Other wise I might charge another $25 for each add, week. I have told every client the very first trip that I will be fair to you and only charge $50 but you have to understand that it is not fair to me if you dont do your part and want me to do another set for a fill price. I say it nicely but I get my point across and it seems they try much harder to keep theeir apts and take care of them.

Well I get this more than I should. If people want a "fill" I give it to them. 1 Hour $65.00( my price)I work fast and avrg. about 40 lashes per eye so they look good but not full. If they want to keep up there lashes I make sure I get them to make a appt. before they leave for two weeks out. I am booked out 2 weeks so if they want to keep up the same look they started with they need to think ahead. I hope this doesn"t sound mean but I have been so nice to people in the past, coming in on days off/early and working extra hard for the same price and found they dont care. They now exspect it from me. And when I dont give in now they get pissed....? I just had a girl leave over this. I know she will not get the same treatment
(lasting product /price) anywhere else like I gave her so it's just a matter of time before I see her agian.

There are always those people who feel the need to get over on everthing. I charge $65 for a fill; some clients go 2 weeks, mostly because they want to, but most come in every three weeks. I have a specific note on my website that states that if you go longer than 4 weeks, it's considered a new set. I do have a reduced price for a returning client.
You have to be the one in charge and be firm and clear, they'll back down or go away; either way you get to be in charge of your business.

Check out my webpage to see the wording, you are welcome to use it if you like on printed material or if you have your own website. I also go over this with clients when I show them how to care for their lashes.

Sometime if a client is sick or has a family emergency and I know she is not trying to sc--w me; I will do a fill; but I spend an extra 30 minutes and charge $90. Then have them come in again in two weeks for a catch up fill...then back to the three week schedule.

Let's put it this way: you want the clients who value you; give the energy vampires the boot! Who needs them, make room for the good girls. :-)

Karol,

Does the time you specify for the appointment include taping up, discussing any problems or changes and taking off any lashes that need it, or is that just the amount of time you spend actually adding lashes?

Thanks

Jill,

It includes all of it.
Assessing the damage, cleaning, taping up, removing, reapplying, drying.

I move fairly quickly and my clients know that they need to show up on time and be clean, and if they have to go get clean....then that cuts into their lashing time.

It's all about time...they are paying for my time & services.

It took me a few years to be able to get to this point where I can get clients in and out quickly. I also think that working with the faster drying adhesive helps out quite a bit.

Hi Yolanda,

2 week fills are 45min (I block 1 hour in my appt book)
3 week fills are 1 hr (I block out 1.5 hrs)
4 week fills are 1.5hr (I block out same time cuz I'm pretty fast or I use my ejector button as Marcia states - ha!).

Thanks Marcia for the compliments!

Karol, Your timing for your refills sounds exactly like mine - however I use 1 hour for 3 & 4 weeks fills and the max I'll charge is $60 per hour. If they need more lashes, I recommend they come in again in 2 weeks as a one off. Most client come every 3 to keep them looking full, but sometimes I'll tell them to rebook in 4 weeks as the Flash Glue seems to go the distance.
