I am swollen and bruised, but hopefully it will dissapear and smooth out. I had liposuction a year ago, and that was great - I'm just doing mesotherapy to smooth out cellulite and lumps left over from lipo. I will keep you guys updated on the progress. Angie Anonymous Guest 0 post Jan 18, 2005 8:22 AM edit · delete I have had 6 treatments since Oct 2004. Absolutely nothing has changed (the Doctor took before and after pictures and can't understand why there is no difference either!!) I was doing cellulite treatment on my legs, as well as fat loss treatments on the saddle bags (back). I am not a very heavy person (135 lbs 5'8") so there should have been at least a slight change in the pictures and measurements. My advice, don't waste your money. (the pain isn't worth it either) libby Guest 0 post Jan 18, 2005 4:10 PM edit · delete Did you try dermasonic that radar/endermologie thing. It seems to work, but I think endermologie worked better. Angie Guest 0 post Jan 20, 2005 12:54 AM edit · delete I'm the one who posted on that I had Meso on Friday... It is now Thursday, almost a week later. I am still very swollen and have black dots all over my thighs from the shots. - I really hope it smooths out, because now it looks worse than ever! - I will keep you updated. Before lipo, i didn't have any cellulite. - Now, I am going in circles and cpending money like crazy to look great in a bikini when I didn't look bad to begin with. The same doctor who performed my lipo did the Mesotherapy, and I'd like to think he knows what he's doing. Can anyone tell me if they were swollen for this long? Any good results?????\Angie Anonymous Guest 0 post Jan 21, 2005 7:10 AM edit · delete I am the one that did Meso and it didn't work. I was only sore for 1 day, however, the bruises did last for about 9 days. There are many ways that doctors mix their "cocktails". Every doctor mixes different. (one may use more of something, another less of a certain ingredient). It is possible that my doctor didn't use the right cocktail for me....thus the reason my soreness didn't last long, and no results. I would be interested in finding out if it really works on somebody else that is using a different doctor. If it does, please give me your doc's # !!!!! I am in the process of asking for my money back from mine! Tabitha Anonymous Guest 0 post Feb 8, 2005 6:42 PM edit · delete sucks and is very painful and burning. Need 5 to 10 times, just better to do liposuction. Anonymous Guest 0 post Feb 9, 2005 7:04 PM edit · delete New Fat-Burning Laser Treatment To Be Offered LOS ANGELES -- A new alternative to liposuction is in the final phase of FDA clinical testing that would allow expanded access to the procedure.
"It's simple, non-invasive, and can be done during your lunch hour," according to NBC4 health reporter, Dr. Bruce Hensel.
Hensel said there are about a dozen of the new machines currently in existence. "Beauty knows no pain, goes the saying, but surgery is where many draw the line," Hensel said. "Now, some experts say you may not have to go under the knife to get that perfect figure." The procedure is called VelaSmooth. One doctor performing the procedure called it a painless alternative to conventional liposuction. It requires no general anesthesia, little down time, and, according to its makers, no major side effects. Kate Mesta and Alan Bane both decided it was worth a try. "I had the extra rolls where my bra line is, and I have those slumps on the side that no matter how many sit ups I did or how much cardio I did, I couldn't get rid of this one section," Mesta said. "I've had four back surgeries, and because of the back surgeries, I can't do a lot of things with my legs, as far as running or riding a bike or anything cardiovascular," Bane said. "And because of that, you know, I've gained a few pounds over the years." The doctor said VelaSmooth works by using radio waves and infrared light to recontour the skin surface, while a vacuum manipulates and smooths out the skin. The patient is awake and alert during the procedure. "All it is, is a hand piece that mechanically vibrates the fat cells, which increases the blood supply," the doctor explained. "And then, once that's mechanically manipulated, then it delivers heat in the form of radio frequency and light into the fat cells. What happens is, the fat cells are dissolved, and they're carried away through the circulation and excreted from the body." The procedure is done over the course of 10 treatments, each lasting up to an hour. Before and after photos show the results, which are permanent. "My waist was over a 37, and now it's a little bit over a 33," Bane said afterward. "I really noticed a huge difference in three to four sessions," Mesta said. "I realized after 10 sessions, I'm looking at three, maybe four inches." The doctor called the new procedure "the next big thing." "I think it's going to revolutionize body contouring and cellulite treatments," the doctor said. "It's probably going to be the next big thing in cosmetic enhancement." I feel better about myself. It helped me jump start and then it got me into going to the gym and eating healthier, and then I maintain it," Mesta said. Hensel added that some experts do not believe VelaSmooth does all its makers claim, and there are no long-term studies comparing it to other procedures. It is about to become an approved procedure, and costs about $5,000 or $6,000. Hensel advised viewers to ask their doctor if the procedure is right for them. For more information on this procedure, use an Internet search engine, and look for VelaSmooth, or contact Dr. John P. Laura, D.O., in Newport Beach at (949) 646-0077. http://www.nbc4.tv/health/4171421/detail.html purplebutterfly Guest 0 post Feb 19, 2005 11:29 PM edit · delete Angie I would like an update on your mesotherapy procedure. please Anonymous Guest 0 post Feb 25, 2005 11:10 AM edit · delete I've made an appointment for Mesotherapy but I'm not reading any good reviews here. Alot of doctors are cashing in on this craze. Some get good training, some get bad training and some don't get trained at all. For cellulite removal, it all has to do with the cocktail. It should be at a depth of 4mm or 6mm at the most and about 1/2 inch apart. The dosage is about .1cc each injection. The Lipodissolve is different than mesotherapy. The injections are about .5cc and deeper (12mm or 1/2 inch). There also are less injections. They usually using something called phosphatidycholine or PC. The side effects of meso are nodules, bruising, swelling, and burning that can last up to two weeks depending on how much they put in. Pre-mixed cocktails don't work. Ask the doctor what they use in their cocktails. But most of all do you due dilagence. Research! www.prollenium.com is a good site to get info on the stuff they put into the cocktails. If you ask them the following questions you can get a pretty good idea of the competence of your doc. 1. What is in the cocktail? 2. What does each medication do? 3. Where did you learn how to do mesotherapy? 4. How often do I have to do it? 5. How do you charge - by the syringe or the area? Hope this helps! That's what happened during my first treatment. Today, she used the gun and it was painless. I do notice that there is pain afterward in the areas that have been liposuctioned before. Nothing you can't handle. After the first treatment, I noticed that my legs looked smoother and my skin is a lot tighter. The doctor could not even believe it. My waist, which has been liposuctioned before, is a tiny bit firmer, but still no evident improvements. Unfortunatly, I am NOT GETTING ANY MORE MESOTHERAPY. I believe it works, but I am very sensitive to caffeine and other metabolism increasing ingredients, and I feel like I am going to have a heart attack today. I have no idea how I drove home. I went in to Rejuvalift for Botox, and asked the Doctor whether I should have liposculpture or Mesotherapy and this is what she told me. She said I should opt. for Mesotherapy which is used for fat POCKETS or small areas that are difficult to get rid of, or do not respond to exercise. I have a small pocket on abdomen, which my father and brother have as well. The doctor told me that if it is genetic "pocketing" of fat mesotherapy would be my best alternative. I also asked the doctor about the bruising. She said that women (because they are "bleeders", and are usually on more medications than men) and ethnic people are more likely to bruise, with ethnic blood the bruising is usually pigmentation and not really a bruise. The doctor then told me about taking A SUPPLEMENT CALLED ARNICA FOR THE BRUISING. you can get this at Whole Foods, Wild Oats or online.. Its a tablet you take (dissolved under the tongue) a few days before you have your treatments and during the treatment phase. For best results you need to do a series, two weeks apart from each other.. At Rejuvalift (in Scottsdale, Az.) they charge 400 per treatment area for Mesotherapy. I hope this is helpful---Grant hellsbells Guest 0 post Jun 5, 2005 3:01 AM edit · delete I had lipodisolve(flab jab) on my chin. The first session was moderately pain free, but the swelling was horrendous. I looked like I was wearing a fat suit. The second session was much less drastic. My double chin has all but disappeared. The injections hurt slightly more than acupuncture and slightly less than an immunization. The bruising was surprisingly minimal and went away three days later. I am founder of The Mesotherapy Center in Atlanta G.A. . We have performed over one thousand procedures and have been practicing mesotherapy for over two years . We hold two certifications for mesotherapy. The truth is some people get beeter results than others. As with any medical procedure. To get the best results treatments should be administered every two weeks. The medication can work for up to three weeks . So do not get weekly treatments. WE have also noticed that our patients that have good elimination ( one to two bowl movements a day) get better results. Simply because the fats are eliminated via the urine ane feces . Drink at least 64 oz of water every day to flush the fats. Take a liquid B-complex to metabolize the fats ( available at any GNC) . Excersize at least three times a week to encourage the metabolism and circulation . Mesotherapy is not a substitute for diet or excersize . HOWEVER WE HAVE SEEN AMAZING RESULTS SOMTIMES BETTER THAN LIPOSUCTION ! I go for my 6th and last treatment tomorrow but I am really disappointed so far. I experience bruising and swelling with each treatment. The swelling usually subsides after 5 days. Has anyone else had results take this long? Anonymous Guest 0 post Jul 31, 2005 1:04 PM edit · delete I had meso therapy done 3 months ago and I am in living hell. I was told the process was relatively painless - NOT TRUE! It was excruciating! I think my doctor used too much and it felt like I had acid on my skin. I had to stay in the office sitting on ice several hours....Now three months later I have hard pockets on each side of my thighs with discoloration. I did lipo with this doctor a year ago and it went great....I just wanted to do a little touch up on the "saddle bag" area and am remorseful and feel totally disfigured. I looked fine before but wanted to look better for the summer and instead was pretty well bed ridden most of the 3 months feeling intense nausea and fatigue. I have been to many doctors since trying to see what I can do to get rid of this. The hard pockets are the size of a closed fist and the cortisone he used to break it up has given me "dimples in the area." I am depressd about this to say the least. I went to another doctor yesterday who said I needed to take steroids for 7 days and worst case scenario they would have to do surgery to take the "capsulized" area out and then I would have big scars and god only knows what my precious thighs would end up looking like.... I have such regrets about this...Has this happened to anyone? I am doing endermologie once a week as well. I am praying daily that this does away and I can go back to looking the way I did before. Anonymous Guest 0 post Aug 2, 2005 10:45 AM edit · delete It is now five days since my 1st set of injections of Lipodissolve. (First post: 7/29/05) Before explaining my results, I want to bring up some expectations/speculations. I was very excited to see what my results would be. Message boards have mentioned that doctors adviced patients to be on a diet and regular exercise. My doctor also advised me to be on a diet and do more cardio. Some patients claimed that the diet and exercise helped more than the therapy. This was a concern. Also, swelling and soreness were issues I was worried about. Doc said there will be swelling and soreness--he was definitely on the money regarding the swelling. Results: Day one (Friday): Very, very swollen! Swelled by an inch or more around the flanks. I felt very uncomfortable because my flanks seemed to pertrude from my shirt. I was shocked on how swollen I was. I researched how long it would take to go done. Day two (Saturday): Still swollen but there has been some reduction of swelling. I still feel uncomfortable with the shape since I was going to the beach. Day three (Sunday): Still swollen but more reduction in the swelling. I feel more comfortable. Day four (Monday): A little bit of swelling left. Now I am comfortable with no shirt on. Day five (Tuesday morning):Swelling is pretty much gone. I will measure before next appointment. Co-workers have noticed that I am smaller now in total size not just flanks. I earlier brought up my doctor's recommendation for diet and exercise. I would like to talk about that issue. My doctor told me to go on a 2000 calorie diet per day and do more cardiovascular exercising and minimize my weight lifting. I am 5'6 and weigh 200 lbs. I regularly eat 2200-2300 calories a day so there was not too much of a change except I have been looking for foods that are less fattening. I do cardio for 2-4 miles a day, 20 minute heavy and fast weightlifting, and martial arts a few times week. Since the last 5 days, I have only changed my diet and kept my workout program the same. This leads me to the questions: Have I lost size due to the diet? Is lipodissolve really working. The answer to the first is no--I have not really lost size due to the diet because other areas appear not to be affected by the diet. The answer to the second is yes--I have noticed that my flank areas are smaller after the lipodissolve swelling have gone down. My pants and belts are already loose!! Bulges that are apparent when I tighten my belt are much, much less!
Lipodissolve spot reduction is WORKING!! I am looking forward to continue my therapy and general program. I will continue to post my results. In terms of those who are having problems, I feel that it my be the inexperience of the doctors doing mesotherapy or lipodissolve/liotherapy. Both are very different! I think if your doctor explains EVERYTHING that can happen they are more knowledgable but if one can tell you what you want to hear and yes they can do it--be very weary! Good Luck to All! Anonymous Guest 0 post Aug 4, 2005 1:50 PM edit · delete Hello - I just went for my 6th out of 8 session I bought. After the first 2 sessions, I had lost an entire pant size in my abdomin area. I also dropped about 4 or 5 pounds. Sebsequent sessions have not produced any results so the doc changed the "juice" today. I'm not as sore and it certainly is not burning... there usually is a great deal of the burning sensation afterwards so this is a huge plus. After today, I am switching to my waist line for the last two pre-paid sessions. It works but I wish it was as effective each subsequent time like it was on the first two. tami Guest 0 post Aug 4, 2005 7:32 PM edit · delete Been reading the messages and have had similar reactions to the treatment. I'm going to wait awhile before going back for more. Anonymous Guest 0 post Aug 6, 2005 7:27 AM edit · delete Does anyone know anything about doctors who perform Mesotherapy in the state of Virginia? Though it has only has been less than two weeks after my first set of PPC injections, I have noticed something exciting to report. I just came from a weekend out of town. Diet and exercise were thrown out the window due to time and accessibility. My therapist stressed to maintain my diet and exercise program--straying away from the path may hinder any improvements especially the first few days after injections. So I was worried about this throughout the weekend. The weird thing is that my belly was a little bigger due to the alcohol and lack of diet and exercise BUT my flanks remained the SAME!! I exercise and eat a good diet. Is there anyone my age out there that has tried the mesotherapy. And how did it work??? Anonymous Guest 0 post Aug 10, 2005 10:42 PM edit · delete Unfortunately, exercise and diet doesn't get rid of cellulite. This fat is trapped in the connective tissue just under the skin. Mesotherapy breaks up the connective tissue allowing the fat to be dissolved and is excreted slowly into the blood stream. I am 53 and have had 3 meso treatments on my lower stomach and saddlebag areas. So far I have see a difference. I just started working on the front of my thighs where my cellulite is worse. I am hoping for good results but I have been having some problems with a possible allergic reaction. Will know more when I see the Dr. on friday to discuss. I think if you check out what is in the cocktail the Dr. is using and you take it slow, I feel that this therapy is the only way to get rid of cellulite, as liposuction does not address the connective tissue problem. I know I swelled back another inch on my flanks. My flanks look like they did before my first lipodissolve injections. What is it they have to mix? Any idea of how much of what? docblinski@msn.com Guest 0 post Jan 9, 2006 5:39 PM edit · delete Just wanted to add to the discussion. I'm a boarded plastic surgeon who has done all forms of liposuction since 1982. I first looked into meso in 1997, found the results to unpredictable with no definitive formulations to follow. Stopped until 2004, after training in LIPODISSOLVE again started meso-lipodissolve treatments. These are my findings after 1 full year of treatments in over 100 patients. These results seem to be international, after speaking with many many injectors. 16% of the treated patients(over 4 sessions) fail to obtain minimal results or improvements. Meso-lipodissolve are time intensive treatments, it takes weeks to months to get acceptable results + the expense. Vs superficial liposculpture is fast quick healing and predictable results. I often add lipodissolve after liposuction to gain effects to residual fat deposits. SO! Meso-lipodissolve is BEST for small areas of fat (like chin, love handles). Larger areas will improve (if you not one of the 16% failure population) in TIME A LONG TIME. Patients need to be aware that if a doc is only offering one treatment regime than they can only be self serving. Some docs like me can offer either meso injections OR liposuction. I try to determine what is best for the patient, in other words get them to a desired result and 'do no harm'. My final advise, see a MESO doc than see a LIPO doc LISTEN< ASK QUESTIONS< TALK TO OTHER PATIENTS "be proactive so you will not be disappointed. Anonymous Guest 0 post Feb 23, 2006 12:20 PM edit · delete Hi. I am very interested in mesotherapy for the cellulite (? or maybe it's fat) on the back of my thighs and buttocks. I've been told by people that it doesn't look bad, and I shouldn't do it.. but I just want to feel comfortable in a bathing suit. I turning 31 and for once in my life, I don't want to cover myself up. I want to enjoy my body while I'm still (sort of) young. I looked at the website for EastEnd Laser Care ( http://eastendlasercare.com ) and found the pictures of the before and after treatments badly touched up with photoshop (for example- they either darkened or lightened the after pictures to make them look better. look at Mesotherapy patient 4, the after photo looks like they blurred her cellulite and changed the color of her skin). I figured that when I went in for the consultation, the doctor would show me actual before and after photo's. To my dismay, he showed me (on his laptop) the same images on his website. After I showed the doctor my thighs/buttocks, he quoted 6 treatments for $3,000. I didn't think it would cost that much. I'm 5'3" and weigh 120 pounds. I'm in shape but with very little dimpling. I figured maybe it would run me no more than $1,500... and since it wasn't that bad, I figured it would also be less treatments. He kept telling how bad it looked and that I definitely needed the procedure done. I'm kind of disappointed with the consultation. I cannot afford to spend that much money on extra treatments I don't need. And the doctor said the treatments do not guarantee results. If this is the going rate and does it really work? Has anyone had mesotherapy done in NY/NYC? How bad was your problem area? How much was your treatments? Was the results satisfactory? What doctor did you use? Also, how can I check on a doctor to see if he is in fact board certified in mesotherapy? What did you do to investigate. Is it working for you and how much is it to do yourself? thanks sc ctina 1 post Jun 8, 2006 7:11 AM edit · delete Hi there... I had my second meso treatment last Friday. I am not sure if I notice a difference - I can't tell! I know that it still may be too early to see any changes so I am being patient. I am now taking measurements and I think i've trimmed down a little. I won't worry too much until my 3rd or 4th treatment. I have 6 all together. What are the seaweed wraps for? And I am not sure I know what "velas" is. How did your treatment go? Vanilla Cream Guest 0 post Jun 8, 2006 9:37 PM edit · delete Has anyone heard of Dr. Bill Nagler in Livonia MI? If anyone has had any meso done by him please tell me your results as I am looking into having this done. Thank you. meso Guest 0 post Jun 10, 2006 12:49 PM edit · delete ok so i had my 1st meso on friday. it wasn't so bad. felt sore and went for a walk after work. i was fine the next morning. i am a little brusied and still somewhat sore, but overall not bad. i have been wearing my seaweed shorts when i workout and after my meso. they feel really good b/c the are tight. i think i might see a difference in celluite and size. i know i have swollen, but it looks different. anyway, i am doing four meso and 10 vela. i hope to see some results and hopefully lose 10lbs along with inches and cellulite. anyone that has had luck with both pls let me know. thanks sc ctina Guest 0 post Jun 12, 2006 11:59 AM edit · delete I have noticed a slight change after my second treatment. BIG waste of money.......Agape Salon CosMedics Guest 0 post Jun 21, 2006 12:45 PM edit · delete As a repitable company in West Texas, we would like to give the true meaning of Mesotherapy. Meso in Greek means "middle". Mesotherapy is the administration of multiple small doses of medicine/or/homepathic products by microinjections in the middle layer of the skin called the mesoderm. It's for the purpose of treatment and/or correction to a localized area of the body. It does not substitute liposuction. It is simply an alternative way of treating the patient. Depending on the type of treatment chosen, there are an average of 8-10 treatments, but noticeable effects of treatment are usually seen within the first 3-4 treatments. Common side effects: itching, and that's one to several days. Redness/Heat may occur to lasting 24 hours to several days. Bruising may last one day to more than a week. The sites may be sore or tender to touch from one to several days. Localized nodules at the site of the injection may be noticed but will disappear from one to several weeks after treatment. Treatments are permanent unless weight gain takes place. Your BMI (body mass index) is also a factor in your results. Meso is used for fat reduction and cellulite, but each is treated with different formulas. It can be given with a mesogun or manually, but both can cause bruising and pain. We're curious to hear from you so..please reply! Ctina Guest 0 post Jun 23, 2006 12:57 PM edit · delete I have had 3 treatments so far and I have not noticed a single difference. I have 3 left. I will be extremely dissapointed if this was all for nothing. CC Guest 0 post Jun 25, 2006 4:10 AM edit · delete I had lipodissolve methotherapy done last Friday(today is Sunday) Mine was the phosphatidyl choline injection on my face and upper neck. My face is still extremely swollen now, it is not getting any better >.<. The pain only lasted for 5-6 hours and was bearable and I have minimal bruisings. it is just the swelling that really annoys me. i shall keep u updated nonamepleez Guest 0 post Jul 3, 2006 4:48 PM edit · delete I had one meso session three weeks ago on my outerthighes andhips. I had terrible bruising and stillhave some pain in one of my legs. the doctor said it is nothing to be concerned about but I am still sore. I did lose an inch off each thigh so I don't want to stop. My dr uses collagen in his cocktail to firm the skin. I am not sure what else is in there but he mixes it, does not use a pre mix. Has anyone experienced soreness after three weeks? My dr recommends every fur weeks but I am waiting five to see if all the pain is gone. I have never heard of any serious side effects so I am still hopeful. Any thoughts? Ctina Guest 0 post Jul 5, 2006 12:56 PM edit · delete After the first time I did it I ws pretty sore. You should try ice or taking Tylenol. It should go away. The next procedures won't be near as bad as the first one was. Also, my Dr gave me Arnica Gel - it is an all-natural remedy to ease pain and brusing. It worls great! If your Dr. does not have it I am sure you can get it at any health-food or herbal place. I had 6 treatments of mesotherapy and I have noticed slight changes. This procedure is an ongoing treatment - meaning your body is still feeling the affects of it for up to 6 months after the last treatment. It takes a lot of patience. In fact, I ended up gaining weight. I don't think it works at all in my opinion. I spent nearly 6,000 on it and I am very angry that it did not work. I should have had liposuction. I had a five needle injection 8 times in my lower abdomen and flanks. Biggest rip off I've ever seen. Don't waste your money. After just two mesotherapy injections for my stubborn double chin, I am now starting to see positive results (slight reduction in fat pad). There was more swelling on first injection. Second injection swelling went down must faster, but more bruising. So far, so good. Two more injections to go, and then I'm done! We'll see if I get more results with the last two injections. Will report back
