I recently went on a consult for thermage and they state that is costs 2500. for the first treatment. The have an intro price of 1500., but you need at least three of them. So the total cost is 6500 for this electrical face lift.

I am thinking, why not just get a face lift?? They stick some needles into your skin and shock the muscle, so they have to n umb you up??

Anyone know anyone that has had one??

Hi Leslie,
I had one Thermage last July and then a second Thermage in August of this year. It does hurt off and on while they are doing it. Our price in Nebraska is $2500 for a full face and then a second procedure within 12 months is $500. It's really been perfected in the past year regarding the increase of the number of sites and passes. I think the newere tips of the instrument allows for more passes therefore better results.

Overall, you have to make an injury in the skin in order for the body to send in collagen to repair the injury. Therefore, the theory is that the collegen helps to smooth and pull the skin tighter. In Nebraska, they are comparing $2500 to $12k for a face lift plus not having the inconvience of recovery from surgery and time off of work.

All the talk shows that have shown the new Thermage say it is the BEST thing since Laser for plastic surgery.

I also want to know if anyone has had one. Is it really worth all of the money ($3800 was what I was quoted). Has anyone had any problems? I read about some women who said it disfigured them and made them look older.

Hi, I have been thinking about having a treatment of Thermage, so I did some dilligent research on the internet and what I found was not to good! If you check most sites on the internet that give information about Thermage they are clinics that are doing the treatments, and of course it's money for them if they can convince you how safe it is. When I looked further I found people who had had it done and some other unbiased research. They related it to having your face Microwaved! If your in your thirties or early forties you may see some slight improvment, but is it realy worth taking a chance with something that is too new to tell the side effects of! One girl, 35 year's old, documented it from beginning to end and it was painfull and she had big lumps on her face for a couple of weeks, she showed photographs. Then in the end she didn't get the results she wanted so she went and had a brow lift and said that it worked great. Today I went into my Doctor's office and while I was waiting I picked up a magazine. I turned to an article and it was about a woman who had had a horrible experience from haveing Thermage. She said that it was so painfull during the treatment she cried. She also said that the results were minimal. I think it's safer to stick with basic surgery since it's been around for a long time. Or find other treatments that are safer. Whatever you do check things out thoroughly before it's too late. Having your face Microwaved cannot be a good thing! I hope this information helps someone.

I am a 55yr. old woman who has over the last few years had a sagging face. Just general lack of tone, some creases around the nose and mouth and some lines around lips. I was not ready for a face lift but needed something. So I went to the best Plastic Surgeon in our area and he suggested thermage. It took me 6 months to get up the nerve and I was very apprehensive but went in anyway.
I can't take any meds with codiene so I was just given 2 valium. Took the edge off. As with some of the other posts it is not a pleasant sensation. Like a burning for about 2 to 3 seconds. I have had worse experiences at the dentist. He did one pass with the tatoo graph on and then washed that off and did another pass using his trained eye.
He did a third spot in areas he thought might need more and then I was done. Then they gave me a mirror and the first thing I noticed was the folds by my nose and mouth were gone. Other than that I didn't have time to study the result. When I got home and had some time I did see more pull on my cheeks and under my chin was more defined. Considering the real results will not show for a few months I can say I am glad I did it, and would probably opt for it again instead of the knife. There was no down time, just a little droggy from the valium. My skin feels tight now and I need to stay out of the sun and not use any face cream that "tightens" your skin. The pain is not that bad. If you had a face lift the after surgery pain is a lot worse.
I paid $2700.00 which I feel is way overpriced. But this doc was one of the "Top Doctors" so he can just about name his price for anything he does. It won't work for anyone who is really wrinkled or super sagging but I feel it does buy one some time in the "fountain of youth"

I am having the "thermage" procedure done the first week in July. I have done a lot of "online" research and had a consultation as well. Can anyone email me some "positive feedback" on the "thermage" procedure. I decided to do some further research and check out some message boards, but I just keep getting mixed reviews. I am 37 years old and I am having from my eyes down through my neck area done (cost is $1300). I am reading that "microcurrent" is better than "thermage" but you have to have several of those procedures to get the results you want. I am looking to pretty much get rid of my double chin look and a toned look around my facial/eye area. If you have any feedback you would like to share with me (if you have had the procedure) could you email me at tawktame@comcast.net - thx a bunch.

As a 41 year old medical insider, I can tell you from experience that thermage is for skin tightening. It requires numerous treatments. I never saw any change in my face after three treatments. The newer Fraxel laser is more for resurfacing skin texture. Both hurt, but with lidocaine cream and a cooling zimmer machine, the pain is minimal. Injections to numb you means the doc has not invested the $7,000 in a zimmer machine-switch to another doc. Having had both procedures numerous times, I personally would spend my money on the fraxel laser procedure over thermage. Fraxel softened and smoothed my face, plumped out fine lines, and completely eliminated all sun spots. Also minimized pore size. Now I rarely even feel the need to wear foundation makeup. I never saw any results on my face with Thermage.

Thermage is just microwaveing the skin until a burn is created in the dermis which this is why it hurts so damn much despite sedation and pain medication. Only 50% improve, and there is an overall 20% complication rate. It is a scam. The machine only costs $30,000.00 (way overpriced) and they want $10,000 ($2,500 X 4!) PER Patient....you do the math! It is all about greedy Doctors and NO SCIENCE that is hurting people by burning their faces! For you Docs out there...remember your Hippocratic Oath # 1: Primum Non Nocerus...First, DO NO HARM!

I am scheduled for Fraxel treatment next week. I am concerned that it will have no effect at all. I am 55 years old, have had my eyes done seven years ago. Now all I want is a lightening of the area and removal of fine lines. A little tightening wouldn't hurt. Don't think there is need for surgery. Any opinions would be welcome.

P.S. I'm in NY so this will cost $2,000 for 4 treatments.

I am having the Thermage done on the 30th of June. I have tried collegan and restlyn neither last longer than 3 months. The doctor thought that i was a good candidate for this procedure. My cost is 2100.00. Just for the lower part of the face and neck. I have had my upper and lower eyes done and also get the botox every 4 months. He said i did not think i needed a face lift. That was the reason i went in the beginning. I don't have many wrinkles, but my neck is starting to sag somewhat. He said this would tighten that area up.I am 62yrs old.

THERMAGE IS MICROWAVING YOUR FACE AND THE SIDE EFFECTS WILL BE TERRIBLE!! YOU WILL EVENTUALLY LOOK MUCH WORSE!!! MINOR FACIAL SURGERY IS MUCH SAFER!

I am 57 years old and a realtor and didn't want the down time of a facelift, so I chose Thermage. I have a lot of loose skin under my chin and the doctor said it would not all go away, but that it would show great results for pulling up my eyes, and would give me some cheek and jaw lift. She did 900 pulses instead of the usual 600 with extra emphasis on my jaw line. The cost for full face was $3200 vs $7400 for a half face lift. I was in and out of the dermotologist's office in about 2.5 hours. Yes, it hurt...a lot, but I suffered no burns or bruising and didn't look like I had anything done and still don't. But it was only 3 weeks ago. The doctor won't take pictures until 3 months and again in 6 months. Everything I've read says it takes this long to see results. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I didn't throw away money. I would also like to read something here from someone who is now at the 3 months or 6 months stage.

I had thermage done on my face and neck April, 04. I did not see any difference (I was told it would tighten my skin and smooth it?) I was 58 at the time. I had the highest level allowed of the radio frequency as I have a high pain tolerance... I did not have any numbing cream. It hurt like hell but I stayed the course to get the "results." I paid 3500 for this treatment that took less than an hour. Afterward I had lumps in my face. I now have depressions and depigmented areas that are obvious to me. Of course the plastic surgeon, who is highly rated, cannot see anything. Now he suggests eurbium laser to smooth out the indentations (that he cannot see) which look like the tip used for the radio frequency. While I understand the procedure has been changed to lower levels of rf, more passes, and no sedation, I still would never have it again. It had no positive results and did damage to my face and neck.

I had my inner thighs done (dumb dumb) which was suppose to tighten my skin from liposuction. A total waste. I did not expect a miracle and felt I had reasonable expectations, but damage to my face and neck and abolutely no results to my thighs was ridiculous.

Thermage machines are about 40000, but the treatments are costly and worthless. We want the fountain of youth--- so it is stated "this will do lots" and is worse than snake oil. Follow the money and then think very hard before having thermage. Buyer beware.

I had the Thermage procedure two months ago. The clinic used a 450 pulse tip for my full face. I noticed an immediate improvement and did not experience any of the side effects others here have described. I did not find the treatment painful and certainly did not have any swelling or burns. Two months post treatment I'm thrilled with the results its amazing and I feel wonderful. I'm 55 and would recommend this treatment to anyone. The technique that the clinic uses is "lower settings" and multiple passes, it was explained to me in detail and by using those settings eliminates the possibility of "fat meltdown" causing dents etc. The cost was $3,200 and worth every cent

What about something called Titan? Unlike Thermage, it does not use radio frequency to tighten the skin which is why it's so painful. This treatment uses an infared beam and does not need to go as deep into the skin. I think Titan might be less expensive. Dr. quoted me $1,250 and will not do Themage anymore. Has anyone else heard of Titan?

Hi Leslie, I had the procidure done and was very dissapointed. It cost $2,700. Canadian. The treatment was rather painfull, like an elastic band snaped at your face a thousand times. I waited for this transformation to happen but I couldn't see much difference, that was two years ago...this May I underwent a face lift and should have done so in the first place.
good luck with your dicission. Anne

Hi! I had my first Fraxel on Wednesday. There was a little pain during the treatment but nothing severe. The following days have been like a sunburn from severe red to bronzing to now flacky and dry. I have used DML Forte to keep it moisturized which helps with the tight feeling. People have only noticed because of the color in my face. The results look awesome already. My pores are much smaller and I had some big ones. Sun spots only a little better but doc plans to freeze those off before next Fraxel. I had had a prior series of laser so I may need only 2 of Fraxel but probably 3. So far I'm amazed. I'll post more as my face heals.

i am having my first Fraxel next week (5 total) and i am starting to get scared. I was so excited and now i have been reading different message boards on thermage and different things and i would never want to do anything that caused permanent harm. I have read only good things about Fraxel (I am getting it for sun damage, melasma and 2 shallow acne scars) but none of these great advances have been around long enough for long term effects. Am I just getting cold feet? Can someone who has done it please make me feel better?
Thank you!

I am 55 and have sagging skin in the neck area and lower face. I wanted to get the thermage vs. facelift and was told I would get maybe a 25 percent result. I also asked what creams, etc. I could use and the dr. said really nothing would help. What to do??? Someone give me some advice.

you should read about the Titan laser for tightening. They are getting the best results in women 40-55. it is even safer for your skin than thermage b/c it only heats up the dermis. the before and after photos are VERY impressive. but do your research. also, copper peptides for firming are wonderful...check out www.skinbiology.com. there are so many alternatives to surgery now, why not try?

I had two titan procedures to date and I am not impressed. The doctor who performed them said he can see how tight my pores are but I think that is from the copper peptides that I use from skin biology. Don't waste your money.

I consulted about Fraxel, and got a quote of 1500 per treatment and 5 treatments are recommended. Does anyone know a less expensive doctor who does this in New York? (With a good reputation, of course)

I just had my 3rd Fraxel done yesterday. I'm in NJ and have a wonderful doctor in Montclair, Dr. Albert Poet. He has an office down the shore and works out of Peau Salon in Montclair as well.

The first procerdure was done 7 weeks ago and was the least painful of the 3. All 3 times I used lidocaine, globbed it on my face two hours prior to treatment, and covered my entire face with saran wrap. When I got to the Salon, Dr. Poet also shot me up with novocaine. The first time wasn't bad...I think what helped then is that an assistant used the cooling device as Dr. Poet ran the laser.

The second time, 2 weeks later, I was in a lot of pain, especially around the upper and lower lips. Same thing, lidocaine, then novacaine, but the assistant did not help with the cooling device....I don't know why and I didn't ask...I'm just very accomodating like that. Dr. Poet saw my discomfort and said next time he'd use a different novocaine. So,

yesterday, 3 weeks after the second treatment, he did...he shot the sh%$ out of me w/ novocaine...but, I'll be damned, it didn't help one iota. I was in horrific pain. Finally, he called in an assistant to use the cooling device. That helped. He told me that he doesn't like to use it because to shoot the cold air on the area being treated while he's doing the procedure diminishes its effectiveness a "bit".

Whatever...let me tell you...it F'in HURT like hell. He told me that of all his patients, he would have to say that I have the dubious honor of being the one that had the most pain from the Fraxel. He mentioned giving me Ativan or something before the next treatment...but, I think 3 is enough for me!!

By the 2 week mark after each of the prior treatments, my face looked awesome. Free of spots, redness, tighter pores, and just very healthy looking.

Honestly, though, I don't know if I can go through it again. The pain was just too much for me. I don't know why that was, I mean, I think I have a pretty high pain threshold--4 births, no pain medication--I just don't know. The doc said he was puzzled, too....

Anyway, call Dr. Albert Poet if you're in the New York area. Tell him Rusti sent you. He's awesome. Very thorough and he won't BS you. He's a good, good guy. Check out his website, Shorelaser.com or go to Peausalon.com

Take care all!

Hi All,

Wanted to let you know I have just completed my 3rd fraxel treatment. Let me just tell you how awesome the results are. Yes I won't lie there is a little pain for beauty getting this treatment done but my skin is tight, clear and very healthy looking. I went for mild acne scars and they are completely gone. I am 32 and it put my skin back to being about 25. Love it.

By the way the treatment is much cheaper here in Florida $625.00 per treatment. Most people need 3 to 5 treatments. This is worth every penny. Oh and even better, my skin has yet to reach optimal result, they told me the collegen will keep building for the next 4 months so my results should continue to improve.

hi sandy!
i am having Fraxel for Melasma first and foremost. The fact that it totally diminshes lines is a bonus for me! i am having 5 treatments total every 2 weeks...sorry if that was unclear. i am 7 days post my second treatment. it is a little dry but it looks so beautiful. my melasma is almost gone. now, i am 30 and had very minimal lines and so they are gone. if sagging is your issue, this isn't going to solve that. i would say melasma, fine lines and scars, in that order, it helps. i heard that scars will get better but not totally go away. i heard titan is better for firming but i would do your research. fraxel is really amazing though and i am proof.

just had my 3rd Fraxel. pretty much the same routine. my derm gives me a demerol before and a valium...it sure relaxes you, maybe that will help with the pain. i have the numbing cream sit on my face for about 45 minutes before she starts. once the sweeling goes down and the red diminishes i will let you know how things are looking. so far GREAT!

I had this procedure done. I never was told after doing this procedure, I should get in touch with someone doing endermologie. This procedure smooth out my skin and bumps. I found this out myself. After speaking with this lady who had liposuction done, and her doctor recommending endermologie. Endermologie really works. I went to a Endermologie chat room and found some good write-ups about some place in Astoria, Queens called Sara's Endermologie. I've been going to this lady twice a week for 1 month, and have been seeing good results. Her prices are affordable. Should anyone want her tel# 718 777-9581. Good luck

Hi Anonymous, wow. I was eating my lunch and brought this chatroom up. Found your write-up on Sara's Endemologie. I visited her and got the free consultation. I started the treatment twice a week for month also. I see some results. Should anyone be interested she has a website address sarasendermologie.com. I must say, she did not push me to join, she explained what the procedure is and what it can do. Her prices were affordable and reasonable. I also spoke to two ladies waiting for their 35 minutes session, they had liposuction done. Their doctor cannot believe how this procedure endermologie has worked after surgeryon them. The doctor has been recommending his patients to Sara's Endermologie ever since. SO, IF ANYONE IS INIERESTED checkout that website address or call her 718 777-7-9851. Thanks for these informantive CHATROOMS.

I'm 54 and am considering fraxel and/or thermage. I have mild sagging and some mild lines and folds and was told I'd be a good candidate for both as I have "thin skin" (the dermatologist did say that she'd recommend fraxel rather than thermage if I were to do only one). I've previously done 3 IPL treatments which helped me get rid of brown spots. I'm in Manhattan and was quoted what seemed like very expensive rates at Laser & Skin Surgery Center: fraxel for face: $1,000/treatment, probably for 5 treatments; thermage for face/neck: $3,000 for 1st treatment, $2,000 for 2nd treatment. I'm leaning towards the fraxel, even though it sounds like it won't do much for the sagging, Are these prices the going rate? Does anyone have other suggestions?

Many thanks and good luck to us all in keeping our looks.

Hi I had two thermage treatments - the first of which I felt had no results. The second made quite a difference. It was the most painful experience I felt the doctor should freeze the face or something because of the pain. However I am 70 and comments have been made that I look 20-25 years younger and you know when I look in the mirror I feel young. Yes - I probably will have it done again. The fee was about a thousand.

To the guest that had the thermage at 70,did you have a lot of sagging ?if so did it help it? my skin is saggy on my lower face, how about wrinkles did that help? Where did you hav e it done,1000.00 sounds very reasonable.I've heard so many bad stories about Thermage, that it's made me very leery about it.I am so happy to hear a good story.I'd like to hear more,I would really like to have it done, but I am such a chicken!!!! Please write again.

Hi Nicky!

I was wondering if you completed all 5 treatments and how the results are so far. I know you were concerned about long term affects and that's one of my main concerns as well.
Did you doctor recommend any bleaching agents to use on a daily basis to maintain the results? I'm sure you already know about the importance of sun protection.

I have really bad melasma and have tried everything. I think I'm going to go for the Fraxel..

Would it be possible for us to chat? I really need some support!!

Hope you're doing great!

Hi everyone,
For those interested in Fraxel. I just had it done. Yes, it is painful but well worth the results. My first two days I had alot of swelling. The third day it subsided and I started looking normal. I am pleased with the uniform look it gave my skin, I didn't realize how much of a difference it makes. I'm 37 and my skin has never looked this great. I can't wait to see the next three sessions how my skin will look and am looking forward to it...each doc charges a different fee. I was given a courtesy discount. Normal fees range from $900-$2000 a session and needing 4 sessions for a great result. If u have asian or ethnic skin this is the most recommended laser. I have had the CO2 laser done 7 years ago and loved that too, but the down time was not worth it.

Hi,
Can I ask why you are getting the Fraxel? Are you doing it for texture or for discoloration on your skin? Also, what is the difference between C02 and Fraxel?

Thanks!

Hello:

I had 3 titan treatments to date, each within 3 months of the other. It hurt terribly the first time because they only used a topical numbing cream. The 2nd & 3rd time they injected into the nerves along my jaw bone, which truly did little to minimize the pain. After seeing my initial picture before the procedures, I do notice a more refreshed looked, but the sagging is still visible. In view of the painful treatments and costs, I feel a facelift would offer more immediate benefits, plus I would be put to sleep. LM

I have now had my 3rd Fraxell and it has been about 2 months. My face is continuing to improve. The 2nd and 3rd were very painful as the doctor turned up the level a little. i wanted to get my money's worth. I had swelling for several days, redness and flaking for about a week. The pain of the procedure continues for me for about the next day or so. My doctor uses the numbing cream and the cooling device. I think the cooling helps a lot with the pain. I am pleased with the improvement in skin texture and pore size. I have some bad acne scars and there has been some improvement. The doctor says I will need more treatment for the acne scars. i am seeing her next month to get her opinion on how many more I will need. I do not notice any firming of my skin. The doctor says the fine lines are better. People have begun to tell me how good I look but do not mention the face. i think they notice something different about me but are not sure what it is. Post if you want more details on my experience. Sue

Hi Sue,
I just had my 4th Fraxel done. It's been a little over a month now and I've seen dramatic improvements on my melasma. I had some dark patches that are barely noticeable now. I plan on having 2 more treatments spaced one month apart as my I had my first four treatments weekly. The last two treatments werer painful because like you, my doc increased the level to 8mJ.
Anyway, best of luck to you and I hope you continue to see great results! I'm rooting for you and everyone else who is having Fraxel done (god knows we pay an arm and a leg for it!)

I had scheduled an appointment to have Thermage done next week. After reading these posts, I think I'm going to cancel and save my money.

Has anyone ever heard of MAMA Lotion? It gets rid of brown spots, acne scars. Here is the weblink: http://skincarerx.com/shopping/review_box.html?pid=498.

Read the reviews. Only one complaint but the rest say it was incredible! Seems to do the same stuff as Fraxel for a fraction of the cost. I plan to buy some and will let you know the results.

I jut met with my dermatologist re the titan...She and her assistance all had 1/2 of their face done and none of them notice a difference. I'm not sure if it only works on a small percentage, but it didn't work on her...I couldn't see a difference in one side vs. the other...

2.5K$ for a treatment may make more sens.

Fraxel Treatments: I live in NYC and I have gone through 2 IPL/Photopatients in LA with Dr. Eva Shamban (Exctreme Makeover) and she is wonderful & had I not moved to NYC, I would have stayed with her since I tried so many others that just didn't "turn the notch up" enough when it came to treating my brown spots/hyperpigmentation. I now live in NYC and have done 2 Aurora treatments with Dr. Howard Sobel. I did not experience a darkening of the brown spots like I did with Shamban after the treatment. I believe that the spots should get a darker brown before fading to prove that the treatment/intensity was effective. After reading the posts, I am considering Fraxel.

Can anyone please email me DIRECTLY to christinavanlinden@yahoo.com with any information regarding a doctor to recommend that is a true expert or specialist in fraxel treatments? Or at least has done enough of them. I will check with Sobel to see if he offers them and post the information. I paid $1300 for 6 treatments, but thus far only paid $650 and have gone through 2. I dont think I want to proceed with the Aurora and would like to try Fraxel.

Please share your information!!

I tried Fraxel a few months ago. I always thought I had a high threshold for pain; as an athlete, I felt I could take anything for a short period, using breathing, etc. They did use numbing cream and a cooling airstream. But it was still very painful, especially around the mouth. 3 weeks later, when I tried it again, it was even worse. I think what some doctors don't get about fraxel is that they have to use pain as a guide and not insist on certain settings in order to "get results." My doctor insisted he was at the lowest setting he was willing to go to have any results, and into the second session, it was so bad, we had to stop. Seriously, I'd rather give birth any day. Here's the odd thing, though: for all his insistence on what the settings had to be, he also told me I probably wouldn't see results until about 3 to 5 sessions. And the truth is, I saw major improvement from one session. So what does that tell me? That I have thin, sensitive skin, and that judging by my pain, he should have lightened the treatment so I could endure it better...because it was obviously going to work for me. However, given that he also didn't stop the treatment when I raised my hand the first time we did it, I didn't have a lot of trust in him; the only way to endure pain is to know you can stop it at any time if you really have to. So between his notion that it had to be a very particular way, and my lack of trust in him to work with me, we stopped the treatments. It amazes me when people say it doesn't hurt that much...that must mean we really are all different in terms of facial skin sensitivity. I'd have never guessed I'd be the wuss...but the fact that it worked SO well, SO fast for me, suggests that maybe it was working, at mid setting, the way it would at much higher setting for someone else. Had he worked with me and been willing to do what was right for me, vs. what was right for others he'd treated, I think we'd have had great results. But to go through that level of pain again...you'd have to put me under. There's just no way.

Hi--I am looking for Nicky who posted here about Fraxel treatments in NY. I have seen Cameron Rokshar in NY for a consultation and seeing Dr. Bass next week. I also want to see Roy Geronemues, but his consult is $350 alone and not applied to treatment. I would really like referrals sent directly since I forget to log in--can anyone with names of people in the NY area please email lagurlY@Yahoo.com

I am going to do it very soon and would appreciate Nicky or Ruby or anyone who has done it to contact me.

Please!

I had the titan done at a wonderful place in nyc on 53 and mad. it cost me 2200 per session. She used 3 different lasers on me at each session, and finnished up with a mask for 20 min. all that for 2200. took about an hour. I paid for a package of 3 and got a 4th follow up free. I look wonderful, and my friends really started noticing after a few months.I found them on the web youngskinforever.com love it!!!! GS in ny

Ladies, you all have been so helpful on your discussions and first hand reports wanted to say thank you all for keeping it real.

One quick reminder, remember your pain threshold is at its worse the week before and the week of that lovely time of the month, yeah your period. Try to schedule anything remotely irritating(beauty enhancements) 2 weeks prior or right after you are finished. Relax, read everything and go with your gut, only you know your bodys tolerances.

Hi - Im 47 and considering Thermage. My skin has sagged some due to a huge weightloss. I was quoted $4,300 for entire face in Toronto, Canada. It seems quite high - is there anyone here who has had Thermage in Toronto? Im trying to justify Thermage as opposed to having a Threadlift and which would be better.

Thanks!

Hi,
I actually do the procedures for people and want to tell you no one I have ever done has been disappointed with a fraxel. The look great. Find out how many your provider has done and make sure they dont use the lowest settings.
I cant say the same for thermage and dont do them anymore --too much dissatisfaction. Titan still needs to be improved.
good luck and use sunblock.

Just a thought for those who have had novacaine prior to non-invasive, non-surgical procedures. Has anyone noticed that the use of novacaine itself causes swelling? Perhaps the changes you noticed following the Thermage, Titan, etc., were the result of swelling due to the use of novacaine and not improvement in your skin due to the procedures.

I am scheduled to receive my 1st Fraxel June 14th For four treatments, it will cost $3800. This seems a bit high to me. I think it should not exceed $3000. I will pay $1,000 per treatment. Should this be a full face treatment each time? Shouldn't the number of treatments depend on the individual? Should I get each consecutive treatment two or four weeks apart? How long does Fraxel last on your skin? Should I not have the cooling method to improve the results? I am excited! The nurses in the office had Fraxel and look 10 yrs. younger!I went in to get bovine collagen for my upper lip and chin and after seeing the nurses changed my mind and had a fraxel consultation instead. I have not worn foundation in so long because it emphasis the fine lines. wrinkles, and large pores. I will be thrilled if I can wear makeup again.I am 46 with sun damage.

Hi--Has anyone had Thermage for Eyes done yet? I understand the tips for this procedure have only been around for 2 months or so. Also, you have to wear eye shields, which seems kind of creepy to me. I had a consult with a plastic surgeon who recommended I have Thermage eyes done, rather than lower lid surgery. I'd appreciate feedback from anyone who's had it done.

In response to those asking about Microcurrent, I have had the procedure many times over the past few years. I do like it, and there is no pain involved. However, my aesthetician is honest enough to tell me that Thermage gives about 10 times the result that you get from Microcurrent. One of her clients had Thermage and she is really impressed with the results and has been encouraging me to have it done. However, she thought the cost was $2,500, and now they are telling me $4,000. Every time I call someone here locally, the price goes up. So, I'm thinking, why not just have a facelift?

5 weeks post 2nd fraxel and happy to hear of others' good results. I am not sure if I see anything yet... except more imperfections in my skin than i remember. Perhaps we just stare so closely after a procedure.
I am in my 40's with sun damage and some lines, wrinkles and really large pores, but after my second treatment,, I felt like some cracks and small areas in my cheeks looked rougher - on one side,, almost like tiny little pitted areas. Is this just part of the process? Certain imperfections coming to the surface? Should my next procedure take care of smoothing these out or am I just looking too closely? I am with one of the top docs on this,, he was in on the clinical trials and has a superb reputation but I am nervous going into number 3. Any advice? thanks to everyone here for sharing - we need each other!

Hi Guest
I had the Thermage procedure carried out on my entire face about 2 months ago and i have started to see terrible results. My skin has become lose and thin around the eye area and very puffy around the orbital rim. It appears that i am losing facial fat in some areas and puffing up in others. I have spoken to my Doctor who carried out the procedure and they addmit that this can be a side effect and offered to replace the lost fat with injections in 4 months time when it has 'settled'.
I have read and seen pictures of many patients who have lost most of their facial fat. So, be warned and i'd advise never to risk this treatment as it's too dangerous.
Thermage is Microwaving!

Hi all. I am a dermatologist and I was planning to buy the Thermage ThermaCool system for my customers. After reading all these posts, I am actually worried if it is safe enough. The price of the treatment is very costly compare to the price of the machine. If I do buy the machine, my prices will be less, a more compareable and reasonable price. I have done a lot of research about this machine, and have also investigated the side effects. There are side effects, but they are minimal. I think the people that had bad experience, were treated tooo harsh compare to their skin type. I feel that the treatment should be done lightly, at a lower cost, but we do more treatments. If anyone knows more about the machine, or thinks that I shouldnt buy it, let me know. I am waiting for a respone.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Deb1028. This message is specially for you. I am a dermatologist that was just browsing through this post line, and was just wondering about Thermage.
For your melasma, have you tried Cosmelan Pack. Its much safer and more effective then Thermage. Thermage is a lifting treatment, not for melasma. For my clients, I treat them with the Cosmelan Pack. I have seen great results and everyone I have treated with have been happy. I am not joking. I dont like to destroy people faces. Research about Cosmelan and its procedures. It is only 600$ -$800 for life treatment, and really they spots are gone for life.

Thanks

Just get a facelift. Look, tightened mucsles will relax again because that have not been shortened and tightened, What are you doing do with excessive skin and that fat that somes with it, I saw a thread lift and her face was pulled back but she looked like a sharpei because all the extra tissue was pulled to the side of her face and neck, Just get rid of it, for all the money and hassle, you can get a neck and facelift for about $9000. From Vincent Nalbone and be done with it for years, No pain and went to my 25th high school class reuin 5 days latermm no bruising, but some swelling, but his work is great and he specializes in this 312-3333 ask for /Dee sometines she can give you better deas for cash

I am now 46 yers old. I had terrible acne scars for a long time and now also some sun damage (wrinkles/dark spots) as well as sagging along the jaw bone. Last year my doctor suggested Thermage. I have a very high treshold for pain (two natural births) and received numbing cream as well as prescription pain killer and the cooling stream - well, it still hurt horribly. That was not the worst though, but I got horrendous huge burn blisters starting the next day and could not go out in public for two weeks! I ended up with more scars and brown spots then before, a lot of pain, and no improvment of the sagging whatsoever. DO NOT DO THERMAGE!
I now had Fraxel done, 3 treatments, and with the Novocaine shots it didn't hurt much. Also, my skin looks better than it ever did during the last 30 years! FRAXEL IS FABULOUS!
Learned it the hard way in Houston.

I had thermage 2 weeks ago. I am 41 and have sag rather than wrinkles. I did not see an immediate effect but I am starting to now, my jaw is much tighter and my overall skin tone is good. The lines from my nose are better too..
It did not hurt too much, I have had much worse being waxed!! It cost me £2000 from under the eyes down. It was £28000 for the whole face. Ridiculously over priced but much cheaper than a face lift and no down time. So far I am pleased and as a bonus it reduces the overproduction of oil in the sebacous glands which has cleared up my middle aged acne!!

I went to the Beverly Hills Surgical Institute for Thermage last year... and man, I wish I would have seen this thread before I went. There was very little info on any discussion board when I first researched the proceedure.. but I stupidly went for it anyway. Waste of money.

I saw absolutely ZERO results. At the time, I was torn between the IPL facials and Thermage, but opted for the Thermage because it seemed like I could expect more dramatic results.

How wrong I was! I had no results except for a small inflammation on one of my cheeks that took about 2 weeks to go away.

Eventually, I decided to try the IPL facials after seeing some nice results on a friend of mine who was going through the treatments.

By my second treatment, I realized that this was a far better procedure, and FAR less expensive than Thermage.

Hi all - am scheduled for first Fraxal Aug 30th. Four days later I'm supposed to fly to NYK for a biz dinner and am worried it may be too soon and I'll still look freakish. Any advice?? Next chance for procedure would be Jan 07 so I'm anxious. Also, having eyes done mid Sept and my derm said Fraxal beforehand would improve my overall happiness with eye results/general wrinkles, etc. Thanks!

Hi Everyone,
I was just reading all of your posts regarding the various treatments out-there for tightening and firming. I am 28 years old and I just had liposuction done for my stomach and triceps. I am still in the healing stage (3 weeks out) and still have some swelling. My stomach skin feels tight and seems to have given me pretty good results. But my tricep tremendously bothers me. I had that sagging skin of the tricep (mild to moderate) and have not been able to get rid of it with lipo. or exercise. Even now my triceps still seem kindof droopy. I looked up Thermage online which promises "tighter skin in just one treatment", but after reading all of the various posts I feel hopeless. I also read about the Titan laser for tightening. Any input? Is there any treatment I could do, not too expensive, to tighten up this loose skin of my tricep (and I will continue exercising)? Any help PLEASE because my wedding is May 2007!!!

Hallo I have been doing some reseach for some clients of mine. I life in Holland and you hear alot about thermage at the moment but the more I read the worried I get. I don't know if thermage is the way to go. I think an old fashioned facelift is better. You always have result as for thermage you have to wait and see.
What I read is thermage is for the lift, Fraxell is for spots and fine lines.
The prices of thermage is also very high, if you compare it to a face lift were your sure you have result.
To Alysha I would think twice before I buy because It's alot of money and not to forget your reputation.
Alysha you were talking about Cosmelan Pack what is this exatly
thanks Micky

I had 4 Fraxel treatments last summer. My main concern was melasma, followed by sunspots and fine lines around my eyes. The Fraxel eliminated the melasma and most of the sun spots, but I didn't notice any difference in my fine lines. However, my skin does look very good, so I am happy and would do it again.

I had a friend who did thermage. $3000 for first treatment. The nurse forgot to numb and the experience was horrible she told me when I picked her up. It had no results and was done by a Doctor. They said it would take another treatment for another $3000.

After speaking to other patients, she decided not to go back as they had no results even six to 12 months later. Waste of money.
