Has anyone had Fraxel Laser treatment? I had it done 7 days ago along with an eye lift and mid face lift. The fraxel left a huge blister on my cheek bone. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced negative results.

Fraxel uses pinpoint dots of laser. Thermage uses high frequency sound waves. Both burn into your skin. Fraxel gives better results. Both hurt to have done. Both need to be renewed after a while. I have seen good results with Fraxel and seen very mixed results with Thermage.

Hi ladies! My treatment was 2 days ago. The treatment was not as painful as I had expected, but my swelling is more than I had expected...my eyelids are swollen shut and look like bags filled with water. Has anyone else had this "eye experience"? If you have would you please tell me if it is from the treatment or the numbing cream? Thanks!

The "water bags" under my eyes are much improved and so is my redness. The doctor told me that each person heals differently, so be prepared....

My eyes were very swollen also with my first treamtment. My doctor gave me an ice pack to take home with me becasue the swelling was so bad. The next morning I woke up and my eyes were swollen shut.. The second time around No swelling at all WEIRD!!!! I had my treatments 3 weeks apart and I would say the second time around was more painful during the procedure but the recovery was easier no swelling, not a whole lot of peeling..My melasma looks amazingly better. My pores are smaller and my acne scar has faded but not completely gone. Wrinkles around my eyes and mouth I would say are the same I haven't really seen an improvement on those.. my doctor says give it 6 months for the true results.

Thanks Nicole - about the results of you second treatment. I will have mine 3 weeks after the first one. My face, and especially my eyes were swollen and I had some crusting for a few days, but that is all gone. I do have a reddish hue to my face.

What about refirme, facecrafter (or anyone who has had it)? I went into the dr asking for refirme, and he ended up recommending fraxel and thermage. I believe (I've had a baby since then and part of brain went MIA) I had thermage (or as it was called, thermacool) 5 years ago and it hurt like hell!! Doctor said still hurts but is 1000x more tolerable. Refirme, though, is not supposed to hurt AND has no downtime and generates energy to two levels of skin, to attack both fine lines and tightening. Also, a Refirme pic I saw on the Syneron site looked like it cleared up discoloration too. But the doc, although he recently purchased the Refirme machine said he preferred thermage; the RN said he just knows the results better with thermage. Also, re thermage for the earlier poster, it is supposed to tighten more than retexturize skin, and has no downtime, unlike fraxel. But both supposedly build up/increase collagen.

i am Chinese with olive skin, and wonder if fraxel laser is suitable for my skin (melasma). I understand using IPL on olive skin aggravates the melasma problem. Has anyone heard of this? Have any asian readers had this treatment?

I'm thinking of having Fraxel - am 34 years old and wondered if anyone else who is similar age has had it, and what do you think? Any ideas on whether there is any reason not to have it at this age?

I am also 34 and I'm thinking of getting the Fraxel, though my purpose is not really to correct skin color or pigment - this is mostly to correct wrinkles on my forehead and under my eyes. Can anyone comment on success they've had regarding wrinkles, in particular under the eyes (as opposed to just crows feet, which are not as close to the eyes).

I had my first Fraxel treatment yesterday afternoon. I am 53 years old. The procedure itself was not painful, but there was very mild discomfort. A cooling and hydrating facial was done immediately after the treatment, which reduced the redness and sunburn sensation a great deal. My daughter went with me to the treatment and noticed an immediate improvement in the lines on my forehead and lightening of the melasma. I applied moisturizer often throughout the evening, and iced my face frequently with a bag of frozen peas. This morning, my face is swollen, but not excessively so. I have no pain. I do see a definitie overall improvement. I will continue the moisturizing and icing through the weekend so it isn't too obvious when I return to work on Monday! Next treatment is Oct. 5th.

I neglected to mention in my earlier post: the most significant improvement by far is in the reduction of the large pores on my chin. I can't believe that they are virtually gone.

hello everybody, I went to the body beautiful show couple of weeks ago and came across the fraxel and thermage stand. I have very large pores and oily skin. I have very few lines which are not deep and am 46 yrs old. I am very seriously thinking about having fraxel treatment but having never had anything done before am so scared something could go wrong. I have read about a blister on a ladies cheek but I would assume that would heal up? Please please can anybody give me a little reassurance before I proceed. Also the doctor I have been to see for my consultation said that I would probably only need 1 fraxel treatment which is a relief due to the cost, BUT I thought you needed about 3 to get the true results. All advice would most gratefullly be received. I decided NOT to have thermage as I had read some scary stories on the internet, but through my research I cannot find any bad stories about fraxel so far. thanks so much

I recently turned 32 and have scheduled my first Fraxel appt for next month - mostly to eradicate the sub-orbital lines and crows feet etching into my face from years of suntanning. I believe the cost is what keeps most women of my age from undergoing the laser treatment. My dermotologist stated that IPL and botox tend to be far more popular with women in their early 30's, primarily because they are much less expensive.

10-27-06 I will be getting my 4th Fraxel treatment today on my face neck and chest. My skin has been looking great. The acne scars are gone and everything feels and looks tighter. The pores on my face are way tighter too! This is an expensive treatment in L.A. that cost 1625. each time. I am very pleased with the results so far. I was a lifeguard in highschool and college and had a bit of sun damage which appears to have disappeared since the 2nd fraxel. I am 49 yrs old and haven't had any face fillers in almost a year because the fraxel has made my skin look so great.
