Hi ALL! I just received a phone call from a client reporting that her Dr. said she could only receive Epinephrine from a Dr for use in PMU!!! After my consult with her I advised her to speak with her Dr because she has had a heart valve issue in the past. Any thoughts or experience with this? I suppose I could perform the procedure without the Epi? Oh it's brows.

I am wondering if the doctor knows how LITTLE of the Epinephrine we use. I would not think it would be a problem in using it topically. I can see where the doctor would be alarmed if you were giving an INJECTION of Epinephrine, but this is a small amount used topically. To be on the safe side though, it might be best to just do the procedure without Epi and just use pressure and an ice pack every so often,..and after the procedure for about 10 min or so. Let us know how this goes, we can all learn from this.

OTC or prescription, huge difference. Doctors have no clue what we do. Brows can be done with nothing if worried.

There are lido topical preparations that do not contain epi so what's the big deal? Just make everyone happy and follow what was requested. Be sure to put a big notice across the top of your procedure sheet to remind you for when you do any touch up work.
