Hi ALl! I am wondering if there is a connection between my clients being on Synthroid for Thyroid condition and pigments pulling darker. I have noticed less color retention in these clients and the chosen pigment such as a Honey Blonde pulling more like Taupe.I have a lot of clients taking this medication. Has anyone noticed these results, and do you adjust pigment color lighter?

Yes people on thyroid medication will almost always ash out. Choose a lighter, warmer pigment on the first application and see how they come back. I always add a couple of drops of something like "ungrey" to my pigment choice for these clients.

WOW I thought so! I was stumped for a while, but then I started to notice the common denominator was this Thyroid medication. And ash out it most def will. Brandy, thank you so much! I'm not crazy! I am only entering my 9th month in this industry, so I am what you could call a total freak about noticing every little detail and trying to make sense of it all. Ungrey is a great call! Many thanks

I'm begining to think that some things are a mystery.
I had a client on thyroid that no matter what I put in there she remained ashy.I decided to try a third session, one pass with nothing but Ungray and guess what?, she ashed out. (shrugs shoulders)Fortunately ,they remained light and she is happy to "see" her eyebrows.

In addition to my original post, I am also seeing poor color retention in the liners I perform on those who are on Thyroid medication. A client returned for follow up yesterday and one eye had no liner while the other was very light. Another client, I have tried to thicken, and darken with very poor results, and 3 attempts.! The color is there, but the liner shrunk by more than half. She really wants a prominent liner, and I just can't seem to deliver the results intended!Any suggestions? How do we as professionals factor in the added time and visits to perfect something that the clients' medication is preventing us from doing? Help!
