What camera do people use for before and after pictures? I had a Canon that was working really well for me, but got stolen out of my car. I decided to upgrade and got one with greater zoom capacity, but it seems to have come at the cost of less micro quality. I'm wondering if I should get one for my business only and not try to have a "one size fits all" camera. I don't really feel like spending a lot of money on it.

I recently found a sale on a Sony Cybershot that is wallet sized so I can carry it with me all the time. Since we are mostly doing face shots, you don't need anything with a super big lens. I use my EPSON photo printer to print their photo out instantly and simulate the look of their future makeup. I spent $99 for the Cybershot, bought a mini hard case so I can keep it in my purse, and a medium sized memory card. I bought my printer several years ago for $189 and pay $45 for print packs with 100 pages of photo gloss paper, which I can use for PMU photos AND developing all my own personal photos. ---------- ~Kat, CPCP~ SPCP Member & Certified Western KY www.CosmeticBeautySalon.com

Whatever camera you decide on, THE most important thing is READING THE MANUAL. We are taking closeup shots. Use the tulip thingy. I can't believe how many people do not know to use that for micro-close shots. It is amazing how much you can learn just by going through the manual. (Not being harsh here - I am guilty, as well!) :-)

Good point and funny you should say that! I didn't figure out the tulip setting until I read my manual on my most current camera, but it still takes lousy close-ups.

I have a Canon Sure shot 750. At one time this was a $400 camera.I think you can get it now for uner $200.I takes great close ups. It was 1 down from the more expensive #850 IS (image stabiliser).A large back screen (2 1/2 x 2 1/2).and the size of a pack of cards.
Lately, after 2yrs focusing from about 3ft away is a problem. It will take 2-3x's of pushing the shutter until if focuses. Still not sure if it's me or the camera.Macro- no problem.
