I am wanting some input on the eyebrow shaping of the inner bulb. Has anyone got a failproof method of getting the inside of the bulb of the eyebrow exact? I always question the inside of the bulb and for years now still do once in an while. What is your experience Liza or anyone in what works for you at that shape that determines the success of the most noticeable part of the brow? Sometimes I have clients that want their brows close and I hate to bring them in too close. I always stay on the side of caution because you can always come in later a bit further but like Ms. M says once you are there you are there. Any ideas gals?

I'm not either LiZa or Ms M but my own preference is always hairstroke unless otherwise specified, with an angle, straight, or less angled but I rarely do a ROUND BULB unless that is what the client wants only. The inside in most cases should line up with the inside of the eye corner, unless their eyes are unusually far apart or too close together.
It really does depend on the client to me, but it should always look natural. ---------- ~Kat, CPCP~ SPCP Member & Certified Western KY www.CosmeticBeautySalon.com

If a person has hair in the bulbs of their brows I usually will lace in some hairline strokes to keep that area very natural appearing when healed. If they don't have hair, as a rule I don't do hairline strokes in the bulb or anywhere else. The exception to this is if the bulbs are "set back" from standard measurements from the inner canthus of the eye up to the brow positioning. If the hair they have is just one or two hairline stroks short of where the bulbs should begin, I'll put a tight stroke in to give them the positioning needed but you have to be very careful when doing so. If the eyebrow hair is coarse, the hairline strokes can be too obvious.
I'm not a big hairline stroke technician. I use them when they can add to an existing population of hair, of to give the client just a tad better bulb positioning, but rarely otherwise.
You will find that bulb designs are a matter of client preference.
Bulb designs will vary by client. There are three basic designs. Straight, which I hate but there are some people who like that. I rarely if ever will agree to this. They look very unnatural. Round - I find that some of my older clients have been doing the round bulb for years and it is difficult for them to change. If I agree to this, it is usally a modifed round (more like an oval or round with a flat bottom (as opposed to a circle); this is very difficult to put into words.
My favorite is a slightly angled beginning which I do the most of.
As far as getting them exact, that takes repetition so if you are having problems with that, time and experience will help you meet that goal in a more timely manner. How you "set" your eyebrow design has a lot to do with how they are tattooed and how they appear when healed. There is a whole thread on how to set the eyebrow design. I'm a "dotter" and you can read how I personally do this, as well as the technique of other on that previous thread.

I am in total agreement that the rounder shape usually is softer and more natural, I find it a harder look with squared off or sharper shapes that have a tendency to only be worn when the client is in full face makeup ( they have to be in mascara, eyeshadow etc. to be able to balance off the brow and carry it well). Then we have the problem when the client is not comfortable in what is the better brow for them, they are used to seeing themselves in this "other" design, so to decide what is perfect, just do a smaller version of the final brow you have decided in and let them pencil in some options for about 30 days until they find a shape they love and then if they really love it.......... I think it is really hard to find a decide on a brow design in one consultation for some people and so allowing some time to play with other options usually helps. ---------- Karla Kwist,CPCP Las Vegas
