go to www dot SPCP dot org search for a trainer in your area. Once you find a trainer, ask him/her for students numbers that you can call for references.
Suggestions-look for a trainer that does one-on-one training. Not a classroom of 6!!! Also, look into purchasing The fundamentals book from the SPCP for $150. It is a beautifully written guide for anyone in the industry, especially someone new. I would read the book first and find a trainer that is familiar with the book and has the same training ideas, theories etc..

Good luck. It a fun career and being terrified is good. It will keep you on your toes and educated.

My first model showed up at training and I just about burst into tears thinking...how the heck am I going to tattoo around an eye. Not because of my ability so much as fearing they wouldn't hold still. But, guess what.....get those first few underway and you will fall in love with what you do. Just keep learning and as you see in your sisters brows.....make sure you know and understand color theory! Welcome to the PMU world :)

Hell Sheila...You can find SPCP trainer members at http://www.spcp.org/trainers.htm

I am sorry to hear about your sister but after three years I am guessing, if the design is decent, that if she gets a touch up done by a pro it will likely correct the color fairly well.

The ideal scenario is to obtain an apprenticeship but these are very hard to come by. SPCP trainers do seem to have to jump through a lot of hoops to have their certification so that is a great start if you cannot land an apprenticeship.

Edit notes...LOL..so sorry Sheila...yes, I did mean to say hello.

If you found one in your town, then you are very forunate. I had to drive for 11 hours and stay for several weeks to get my one-on-one studio training. Fortunately for me, I was able to have a two-year apprenticeship right after that for several years. I can still remember several procedures than went really really long, a lot of tearing from the eye, etc. I was bawling my eyes out after the stress of it. She said, "Do you want to quit?" and I said, "No way, I'm in it now." She was just a really strong person to rely on with all the 'crap, what do I do now?' situations that could come up and shake your confidence... But you do learn with a lot of successful practice to be confident. And then you learn with Ms. M and all her kickin color theory etc. how to fix all those blue/grey eyebrows, and you will see a WHOLE lot more of 'em, and you will love what you do.

call carol kaye, cpcp. she is retiring as a trainer but could talk to you about susan. she took advanced training with her after she received terrible fundamental training from someone else in the early 90's. she speaks highly of susan. look on spcp website under indiana techs and trainers for carol's contact info.

If you don't go to an SPCP trainer, you may not get the 100 hours that you need for certification.

If there is an SPCP trainer in your town, that is a good place to start.
