I'm interested in getting advanced areola training (preferably hands-on) this summer. About the only time I'll have to do it is when I'm on vacation in July. I'll be in Gulf Shores, Alabama, so I'm looking for training within a few hours drive of there. Pensacola, FL would also be close. I just want something like a one-day workshop. I'm having a hard time finding a trainer in that area. Any suggestions?

Robin Hays is in Chattanooga.
she does a lot of areola work.

if anyone can ever make the trip, and wants to learn areola work from the guru of areola, they should get on a plane to New Zealand. Shirley Lynch does amazing areola work and she does hundreds each day. ((yah ok, slight exaggeration there))

Thanks. I'll look Robin up. I looked at Shirley Lynch's website. Wish she had more areola pics on there.

Thanks for the kind words LiZa.

Marla i could put better photos on my website if I could find a digital camera that i like and is simple to use! and I mean simple...
LiZa has one or two or three cameras, but she wouldnt share...so I still use my macro polaroid and my husband takes a photo off that.
okay you guys i can read minds as well...so all you people who are laughing I can hear you!
I do a lot of breasts, I bill the Doctors if they are private or the hospital if public patients. it is the one area of PMU that i enjoy the most.

kind regards

Would Debbie Guastella be closer? She teaches a lot of areola tattooing.

I use a Kodak Easyshare digital camera. It is really easy. Thanks for the areola info, everyone. I'll check and see where Debbie Guastella is.

The plastic surgeon that was talking to me about working with his clients has decided that he wants to check back with me when I have more areola experience. Can't blame him at all, but how can I get experience if I can't get started?

I am not a trainer but I do a lot of areola work for local plastic surgeons. It was hard to get their trust and approval. Practice does make perfect and that's not always so easy with areola pigmentation. You are working with different tyes of tissues and sometimes skin that has been altered by radiation treatments.

I offer this service at no charge and do not charge the doctors either. This is a personal choice that I find very rewarding and trust me it will come back to you ten fold when you give truly with your heart.

If you are ever in the Asheville North Carolina area I would love you to come by and watch me work with the client's permission of course. All the trainers you have heard about are phenomenal women. I am self taught just by chance because I knew women who were willing to let me work on them. I continue to improve every time I work with a new client.
There are several photos on my website and I add and change regularly so keep checking back.

Don't give up on the doctor's. Find some women who would be willing to let you practice and get some good training. When you build up a portfolio then approach the doctors about sending you a few clients to work on and then let them see your work first hand.

It is the most rewarding thing I have done in my professonal career and I LOVE it.......

Thanks, Earleen! I had already bookmarked your website because it has good pics to reference. Thanks for the invitation to come watch you. Maybe I'll just do that someday. I'm thinking that maybe I should contact the local Cancer Society or a cancer support group and let them know who I am and that I'm willing to help anyone who needs it. Do you think that would be a good idea?

Definitely! Also if you have any wig shops in your area they are a great source for women in need because most women going throgh chemo are at the wig shop sooner or later. You may also let them know at the local radiologists office where mammograms are performed. There are always women in need and I find most of them don't even know this service is available to them besides by the doctors or nurses in the office. You may want to offer permanent makeup to some of the nurses at the practice where you are hoping to get ladies from. Good relationships will help and the doctors will see your permanent makeup work as well. Maybe a local women's magazine can help with a human interest story.
Thank you for wanting to perform this procedure, it is a wonderful experience and you will be helping so many women.
